The inner critique! 02/02/2012
Are you committed to being the primary leader of your life? Do you stand up for what you believe in even if it may not be the most popular decision? Do you offer praise for an opinion when you really want to say you don’t support the opinion? Would you prefer to tell a lie than to tell the truth for fair of being chastised? Do you keep your opinion to yourself but internalize what you should have shared? Do you allow others to cross your boundaries? Do you have boundaries? Are you fearful of expressing yourself when you are directly confronted? Do you keep quiet and become passive so you don’t upset the person? A “Yes” answer to the above questions indicates you may need support to get on track. These are only a few questions which are indicators that you are not the primary leader of your life. Another angle of recognizing whether you are the primary leader of your life, are the behaviors that follow when you wish you gave another response. Do you find yourself immediately seeking comfort food? Do you get angry with yourself or others without cause? Do you lash out at others because you won’t speak your true opinion when asked?
